Why is Depression taking hold of Millennials and Gen Z?

Depression is a growing concern among millennials and Gen Z, and there are a number of factors contributing to this trend. The pressures of modern society, including social media, academic and career expectations, and economic instability, can all contribute to feelings of inadequacy and hopelessness. Additionally, these generations are facing unique challenges such as climate change, political instability, and social inequality, which can lead to feelings of helplessness and despair.
Another key factor in the rise of depression among millennials and Gen Z is the stigma surrounding mental health. Many individuals in these generations may feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help for their struggles, or may not have access to resources and support networks.
It is crucial that we address this issue and work to provide more accessible and stigma-free mental health resources for young people. Supporting and empowering individuals to prioritize their mental health can help alleviate this growing concern by acknowledging depression's root causes and providing support and resources.
